As one of the six watertowns in the Jiangnan region near Shanghai, Xitang remains a place untouched by the complexities of modern life. Your local guide will pick you up at the hotel and accompany you to Xitang (about 4 hours), a classic water town that is situated among the glorious landscape of the south Yangtze region. With its traditional architecture and artistic culture, Xitang offers a window into the past of this rustic paradise.
Within Xitang, your guide will accompany you to Shaoxiang Port and the Ni Family Residence: two of the areas most celebrated historic landmarks.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will proceed to the Mingqing's Wooden Mold Museum, Millet Wine Museum, and Ancient Eaves Tile Museum. All display the unique folk heritage of the region, and allow visitors to understand the day-to-day existence of villagers over the centuries.
